What is ISO/IEC 17025:2005?
We are proud to be accredited by A2LA to the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard. This accreditation further demonstrates our passion and ability to deliver top quality products and services to our customers.
Based on customer feedback and past requests, we maintain accreditation to perform calibrations on a wide array of RF and GP test and measurement equipment. By focusing on the true demand of our customers for ISO 17025 calibrations, we are able to offer availability and turnaround times unmatched in our industry.
ISO/IEC 17025:2005 is becoming the main standard used by testing and calibration laboratories. There are many commonalities with the ISO 9001:2008 standard, but ISO 17025 adds the concept of competence to the equation.
There are two main sections in ISO 17025 - Management Requirements and Technical Requirements. Management requirements are related to the operation and effectiveness of the quality management system within the calibration laboratory. Technical requirements address the competence of the staff, methodology and test/calibration equipment itself.
Laboratories use ISO 17025 to implement a quality system aimed at improving their ability to consistently produce valid results. It is also the requirements for accreditation from the accreditation body. Since the standard is about competence, accreditation is simply formal recognition of a demonstration of that competence.
Unlike many ISO standards, third party auditing and appraisal of the laboratory is not carried out by a certification body, but by an accreditation body. Laboratories are therefore "accredited" rather than "certified" or "registered". The accreditation body we have chosen is A2LA. Our Calibration Scope of Accreditation also includes the requirements of ANSI/NCSLI Z540-1-1994 and the requirements of ANSI/NCSLI Z540.3-2006.
