SyntheSys Research was the result of a collaboration between Tom and Jim Waschura in 1989. Based out of Menlo Park, California, the first product to carry the SyntheSys Research badge was a 160 Mbit/s bit error rate tester (BERT) called the BitAlyzer 160 that was released the very year the company was founded. Among the many accolades that SyntheSys Research has accumulated since then includes being the very first to combine Jitter sources in its test signal generators to permit popular Stressed-Eye testing.
Whether it is telecommunications, computer applications, HD TV or optical applications, SyntheSys Research has products and solutions for digital analysis testing and measurement and Bit Error Rate testing, among others. 21 years after its founding, Tektronix acquired SyntheSys Research in 2010.
